Objective:

To form an imine using 5-methylfurfuylamine and piperonal.

Procedure:

To separate vials was added 5-methylfurfurylamine (111 uL, 1 mmol) and piperonal (0.150 g, 1 mmol) and diluted to approximately 1 mL using CD3OD (deuterated methanol). A HNMR and CMR were taken of each component. To a separate vial each solution was combined and then transfered to an NMR tube. NMR spectra were taken at various time intervals.
